Madinah Ramadhan Khat Competition - Results

Praise be to Allah, I got something for my artwork! I received a call this morning informing me about the result and asking me to be at the prize giving ceremony which would be held later in the afternoon. 

In truth, I was quite shocked, although some part of me were hoping for the positive outcome. The artwork of the others, in my opinion, were exquisite, and it was confirmed by the judges when I talked with one of them after the ceremony that the quality of the artworks were high compared to last year.

Madinah Ramadhan Khat Competition

Today I entered the Madinah Ramadhan Khat Competition held at the Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium. There were 14 participants altogether (2 of them were females) and I was not confident enough to be among the top 10. I rarely write nowadays and I held my khat pen just 1 week ago. It would be a miracle if I were to win anything. 

However, I was quite satisfied with my work. I was careful enough throughout the 3 hours so as not to make any telling mistakes (though I did make one which required me to apply liquid paper). Here was my work:

Dr. Cermin

My car was following a lorry when it happened. A stone was thrown as impact from the tyres of the lorry and it didn't take much to put a tiny hole on the windscreen. After asking around whether to repair the windscreen or to buy a new one, a friend informed me of Dr. Cermin (the mirror doctor). 

I browsed through its website before deciding to try its service. I found out that they have one branch at Kubang Kerian, in front of the castle. I also brought my wife's car, which had just been taken out from the workshop after a lengthy spell with the mechanic because of 2014 flood, because it also has a tiny hole on its windscreen. However, its crack has spread wide because of non-treatment. 

Knowing that my new hole would cost me RM90, one could only imagine how much my wife's car big crack would cost. Even the Dr. Cermin staffs were reluctant to treat its wound, suggesting instead for me to change it because the cost would be nearly the same.

So, four days later, I changed the windscreen, after 'shopping around' nearby and found LIM CLS Motorworks and Glass Supply to be the cheapest among the alternatives.  

The Colourful Side of GE13 (PRU13)

The dust has settled but I don't want to delve into the hanky-panky of post election where almost everybody can claim or do whatever they want. I just want to share with all of you the colourful side of it. I have visited many places in the city of Kota Bharu as well as Tumpat, Tanah Merah, Pasir Mas and Bachok. I have been to Gua Musang also on my way to Cameron Highlands a day before the election. What I did was taking photos of the creative models of submarines, ships, helicopters and also robots to attract the attention of the would-be voters towards the contesting parties. Taman Indera Petra, Kota Bharu

Yesterday I took my wife and son to Taman Indera, a water based park located beside the Kota Darulnaim. It is not as big as Tambun or Sunway Lagoon, but just for fun with your kids, it will do just fine. There are swimming pools of different sizes and depths, suitable for kids and also adults. There is no entry fee for the kids, but if you are escorting them you will be charged RM1. However, if you are 13 years old and above, planning to dive in yourself, you have to pay RM5.

At last, our cards have completed. We don't have to bring along our marriage book or certificate anymore. No more worries if we have to rent out a hostel during our travels. It fits nicely into the wallet, along with other cards (not that many, actually). A very beautiful card greenish in colour, with a nice khat for the JAHEIK name, and the pictures of the husband and the wife underneath it. At the back, more details of the owner and the spouse, which includes the serial number. The same serial number is given to both parties, with the husband gets XXXXX S (the initial for Suami) and the wife gets XXXXX I (Isteri). For newly weds, they will be issued this card.
