The New Red Warriors & MH370

This week is the week of good and bad news. The bad news is, our Prime Minister has announced that the flight MH370 has 'ended' its journey in the middle of the Indian Ocean and that all those on board did not survive. It ended a fortnight of uncertainty of the fate of the Boeing 777ER (picture below) and presented a mind-boggling mystery for the flight experts all over the world. As a Malaysian through and through, I feel for those involved, especially the relatives of the passengers and the crews, as many of them were Malaysians. I refrained from posting about all the theories and conspiracies out of respect for them, and this is my first and maybe last posting on this subject. Deep inside, I still hope that there will be survivors, but I may accept that the chances are quite slim.

The good news is, The Red Warriors welcome several new players. Brendan Gan, Mohd Fitri Omar and Wan Zack Haikal will surely make TRW stronger in the remaining of the Malaysian Super League. Currently, TRW is third in the standing with 13 points, the same points tally with the league leaders, Terengganu. For starters, let us cheer them up when we 'entertain' Johor Darul Takzim tonight at the Sultan Mohd IV stadium.

The Colourful Side of GE13 (PRU13)

The dust has settled but I don't want to delve into the hanky-panky of post election where almost everybody can claim or do whatever they want. I just want to share with all of you the colourful side of it. I have visited many places in the city of Kota Bharu as well as Tumpat, Tanah Merah, Pasir Mas and Bachok. I have been to Gua Musang also on my way to Cameron Highlands a day before the election. What I did was taking photos of the creative models of submarines, ships, helicopters and also robots to attract the attention of the would-be voters towards the contesting parties. Here are some of the best:

PPSMI is No More

Finally, the jury is out. The defendant, PPSMI, is sentenced to slow death starting from 2012 until 2014. Malay and vernacular languages will again be used to teach Mathematics and Science, both in primary and secondary schools. However, the changes won't include Form Six and Matriculation. Since its inception, PPSMI has received negative views from all over Malaysia, especially from those from the rural areas. Several reasons were given, including the ever widening gap between rural and urban students and the low percentage of teachers' proficiency in English for those teaching these two subjects. Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yasin said that there will be changes in teaching English. Subjects on literature, composition and grammar will be re-introduced and the number of English teachers will be sufficiently increased.

Sultan Kelantan Is Ill

I just received a news that Duli Yang Maha Mulia Tuanku Al-Sultan Ismail Petra ibni Almarhum Al-Sultan Yahya Petra has just been admitted to HUSM because of illness. However, by the time of writing, the cause of his illness has yet to be revealed. Bernama said it was because of asthma attack, but it remains to be determined by the doctors. A HUSM assistant director, Dr. Rosdi Abdul Rahman, said that the Sultan is in stabil condition but refused to revealed the cause of illness when asked. Let's us pray for our beloved Sultan's health.
